DaPrawf
I'm not sure what's going on with his coloration behind his head. Any ideas? Edited September 13, 2022 by DaPrawf add tags

Indeed, in body shape. The fish looks washed out in color. Looks like a cardinal, but pale. Watch behavior. If he’s the runt, he may very well get picked on. ESPECIALLY watch him at mealtime. Is he being out competed for food or nipped by the others? It’s easy to miss when there’s a lot of activity. I’ve found they have a pecking order. I don’t believe it’s a sunken belly (illness), but it could be hunger. Also, how many tetra are in your school?

I've got 12 green neon tetras. 3 guppies. A honey gourami. It seems like a pretty peaceful tank.

No I didn't quarantine. This is my first tank and I didn't want to set up a temporary tank.
Chick-In-Of-TheSea
No worries. Was he pale since you got him or has he become pale just recently?
DaPrawf
Recently. Last week or so. No signs anybody else has whatever is causing it.
PineSong
I’ve bought neons twice and each time one was a little thin so the belly line was flat like that. I do QT so it could be that being dewormed helped but I feed them frozen baby brine shrimp in QT and I definitely think that helped them get chubby. You might want to try some and see if that helps.
