Java Fern

Hi all. The Java fern came as several plants tied together. I made two bundles and tied them to a piece of wood. Looks great but should they be separated more?

I noticed this also. What I did was to completely untie them and glue each one. I don't know if I would do that again or not. It worked very well. It has been about 90 days and have WAY more plants that I know what to do with. Each one has more leaves coming up and most have many many babies hanging of original leaves. The reason I say I may not do it again was it was not easy messing with individual plants and getting them to standup. All worked in the end.

Might be too soon yet but I haven’t noticed any growth yet on those, that’s why I wondered if I should separate all of them.
When I got another Java fern I separated each one but they are all only one leaf on a tiny rhizome. Haven’t seen any growth on those yet.

Java fern is a very slow grower

I agree give Java Feen time and ferts.  Time will be good to you.

Yes time is key for these guys. I started with 2 originally. It took those go a good 2-3 months before I noticed much difference at all. Then I learned the do enjoy more potassium. So I added a small dose of potassium to my regular easy green dose. That was really the key for me. Within another 30 days I was starting to get baby plants on both and have been able to add them to my other 2 tanks over the next couple of months
