I would love to see how you did it with instructions.  I have many types of emergent plants but this sounds very fun.

Edit: I added a YouTube video I found that looks like a better way, and could go straight to the tank.

I stared with the top of the pineapple. I did cheat a little because I have grown at least 100 and planted in the yard. If you never plant them in soil they with grow but but not produce fruit. I put the top in a ice cream bucket for a few weeks so the outside scales and the little fruit that were there got soft and fell of or I could pull off until there is the green top and almost nothing except the hard core. I’m  afraid that if I when straight to the tank because of the rotting fruit. Root may start form in the bucket but most of the time I I put it in a HOB or a hang it from the side or top. A few tanks have cheap plex-glass topps with holes so I can place plants but I seem to only be able to grow photos and pineapples.image.jpg.6c2a389190f13bd9271a740ae613d770.jpg

image.jpg.4b64a511e075f6c4bfdf601903e99532.jpgThe stem/core of the pineapple on this one goes out on a 90 degree angle and the roots grow straight down from the top I think I left it in the bucket to long. But when it when in the HOB it had 3 or 4 roots. If I was going to plant this it would be time. There it one thing about pineapples and any bromeliad that is different and that is they like to get waters from the top. So I do put some water in the cone of the plant sometimes.

This is the left one and I was going to plant it but I let the roots get dry and thought I would add it to a tank. The roots should not be black they should be more like the. First but you can start to see some of the roots turning color. The snails have eaten the dark parts off.

I can barely grow aquarium plants and you guys are out here growing pineapples in your tank😅

I can only grow pothos but pineapples are easy.  I did it as a kid in school. We cut the top off and put the top in a dish with water and it grew.

This is magnificent thank you. Hubby cuts up a pineapple each week so now this is my to do list.
For color I do inchplants both pink and purple. Polka dot plants pink and magenta. Anthurium, calathea and syngonium strains.
I love the oranges and yellows in those pictures

I found a video that shows a different way than I have done it. I normally just cut the top and put it in ice cream bucket let the pieces rot off but this way I think may be better.I’m going to try this after grocery day and head right to the tank.

Im not quite ready to make the jump because some are very expensive, or at least for a chance they will work. I’m amazed at your plants. They are wonderful. The colors of the bromeliads are amazing but they don’t normally have long lives. A couple of years and then bloom and die after making a clone and you can start over I'm not sure about the jump from pineapples but I think I’ll have to try some of the plants you have. How do you keep the bamboo?

Plantlife Project does YouTube videos on all sorts of emerged grown plants. They may have what you are looking for.

I use egg crate light diffusers and cut out for filters etc instead of the plastic strip on glass lids. I use nylon bolts and zip ties to keep the ones to short to reach the bottom straight. I also buy houseplants and just put cutting ps in tanks often so if they fail I can try again or at least have a pretty houseplant in my fishroom. Walmart and hardware stores are great $4-5 little starter plants in a plastic grow pot. Rinse the roots and jam them in. All my peace lilies bloom in hobs. I think I paid $7 for small starters of those.

You sent me down a rabbit hole. I found these on other bromeliads and how to propagate.

Some grow wild where I live. People keep them in the bathrooms and they can do well getting water from the steam from the shower. The Tillandsia and Hechtia Genus are common. They others people grow all over. Almost Every pool has at least one. It a major gardening thing. There are some very good and propagate them and sell for good money some of the ones at the Thomas Edison winter home are great.
