White lip?

What is the white spot on the lower lip on this Madagascar rainbow caused from?

Help iD this white bump on lower lip of all four fish.  Pleas, and thank you

Im not really positive on what that could be, but to me, It looks like maybe its an injury from hitting something in the tank? Could he have gotten spooked and ran into the glass maybe? I would keep a watch on it to see if it starts to look like a cottony growth. Hopefully somebody will chime in and have more ideas to help you.

Yes they all have it.  Just showed up after putting them from 10 gallon tank to a new 20 long by themselves.  Weird.

Columnaris aka Cotton mouth disease would be my guess. Id recommend Salt and Maracyn

Ok I’ll try that thanks!  Is maracyn anti-fungal?  I think it’s just anti bacterial.

Could be Columnaris the most effective treatment is kanaplex and jungal fungas clear fizz tabs containing nitrofurazone together following this treatment schedule @Waterlife

I don’t think it’s fungus and have not started those meds yet.  But I’m contemplating a solution. Any ideas?

Columnaris is a gram negative bacterial and spreads rapidly depending on the stain it can kill your fish in a couple of days to a couple of weeks I would recommend treating straight away with meds I suggested  @Waterlife

I second Colu. This could be the start of mouth rot due to Columnaris. It can progress quite rapidly, to where the fish can't eat.
