WyoTrucker
Bought a 45gal from a friend and this sunset gourami came with it. He was in pretty rough shape to begin with, 6mo of neglect on the tank, I'm surprised any of the first lived. He seems to have, uhh.. something coming out of his chest, which seems bloated in the first place. It doesn't seem to move at all like a worm, but it does flow behind him. It reminds me of a tapeworm almost. It's probably a good 6-8" long. It kinda looks like a plant root or string of some sort but he doesn't have access to any of that. He's still very lively despite being in rough shape. Thoughts? pH- 8.0 Nitrates 20 Hardness- maxed on the strip Nitrite 0 Ammonia 0 KH/Buffer - maxed on the strip Water Temperature 79-80F Sorry, dunno why the picture turned sideways. 🤷♂️

Colu
With the bloating it could be constipation I would do Epsom salt baths 1 table spoon for 1 gallon for the next couple of days as Epsom salt acts as a muscle relaxants to help with constipation if after a couple of days of Epsom salt baths your noticing no improvement then I would treat with metroplex in food
ndfi78
Just for future, in case I ever need it. Do you put the Epsom salt in your tank or do you prepare a separate container and put the fish in that for a specified amount of time?
Colu
I use a bucket when using Epson salt if you add it to your tank Epsom salt will effect your hardness of your water and alter your pH Edited April 5, 2022 by Colu
ndfi78
That is what I thought, but I'd never seen it specified. Thanks!
