Hobbit
Hey all! Does anyone know if it’s okay to turn the coop’s powerhead sideways? I have a sponge over the intake that I constantly need to clean, and it would be a whole lot easier to take it on and off if the intake was sideways instead of under the powerhead itself. Is it okay to just turn the whole thing 90 degrees?
CT_
I'm 99% sure its a centrifugal pump like all the other power heads and HOB motors so it should be fine in any orientation. edit: Actually I can't think of any pump geometry that cares what the orientation is, though I'm sure there exists something obscure. Guppysnail
All 4 of mine are sideways. They work great. Lights out in the other two so no pics. Edited March 24, 2022 by Guppysnail 2
Hobbit
Thanks, both of you! I turned the thing sideways and it seems to be working great! As a bonus, I caught about ten baby plecos when I went to wring out the filter. 😄 1
Jawjagrrl
I wanted to add a prefilter sponge to mine and the little fluval one I have on right now is clogging up constantly (use what you have first, right?) so I wanted to switch to a Co-op pre filter sponge Instead. Wondering if that is what you all are using, and if so, what size? Getting ready to make a big plant order over the next couple of days and wanted to add to my order if possible. Thanks! Hobbit
I’m also just using an old one I have from some other powerhead. 😛
