Mengo
My friend is going to be setting up a new tank and I'm planning in giving some of my established filter media. How do I keep most of the bacteria alive for a few hours?

lefty o
if its kept at a temperature you are comfortable in, the bacteria will survive a few hours.
modified lung
The bacteria won't die during transport unless they get down below 50 or above 95°F. They might go into a short dormancy but as long as your friend's aquarium is within 5°F of yours, they'll start right back up in no time.
