Is my betta healing or getting worst?

I added a catappa leaf, did a course of Maracyn. Didn’t notice much which lead to this next post :

Now he is in his 2nd day in level 1 dose of salt. The swelling is all gone. He swims, is super active. I made him flare with a mirror to see if his injured gill worked and while he seems a bit reluctant, he flared/opened it fully.

But while doing so, in the last video, you can see it raised his scales. Do fish shed their injured scales? Will it eventually heal or it’s a permanent scar?

I'm so glad your fishy is better! Just in general fish can lose and grow back scales from injuries- takes time to heal. Keep his water clean and he should heal in time.

Scales will grow back! My betta had a loose scale from some rubbing he did when he jumped through his feeding ring for food. I removed his feeding ring, kept his water clean, added some indian almond leaves and everything is looking ok.
