Gideyon
I've been trying to research the different types of variatus platy. The only one I know about is the sunset. What are the other types? I didn't think it would be so hard to find a simple list. Maybe I'm searching for the wrong thing. I am considering 3 platys in a 7 gallon (swimming space). But instead of 3 sunsets, I wanted to have 3 different. I just don't know what those options are. Another semi related question that I didn't want to start a new thread for: I really like the look of the green lantern. But I get mixed information on temperature requirements. Would they be fine with a sunset between 70-74? Maybe dipping into the higher 60s on occasion? And is 3 too much? My original plan was a small school of white clouds and a single sunset. That's evolved into a platy only tank.
Levi_Aquatics
One of my favorite variatus color types is red tail blue variatus.
T. Payne
In my experience variatus will do fine in temperatures from the lower 60s to lower 80s. Keep in mind that if you have mixed sexes in that aquarium you will soon have a colony of fish on your hands.
