The only real concern that I would have is getting something getting trapped in the bristles (snails, substrate, etc) and scratching the glass or acrylic. I also don't know how well these would work in removing algae. I feel like if these were better than the options that we already have, some company would have made and marketed something like these. It doesn't hurt to give it a try though (if you are careful with substrate).
