DaveO
After I got back from vacation a couple weeks ago I checked my tanks to see how they fared. Not too bad, a few snails were gone from one tank but sadly one neon tetra was gone from the other. Today while doing a water change in my smaller tank I decided to see if I could quiet vibration from the pump. To my surprise there was the neon swimming in the filter compartment. It was kind of funny how eagerly he jumped into the net when I got him out.
Guppysnail
Glad you found him. At least noisy pumps found a helpful purpose😁
Tihshho
Fish showing up in filters is part of why I moved away from HOB filters years ago. As a kid I had a tank with a Penguin Biowheel filter and constantly lost rainbow and red tailed sharks to it at night. Not sure why, but when the lights went out almost like clockwork I would hear a nasty noise from the filter and would find a red tail or a rainbow jamming up an impeller head first. I have a feeling it had to do with a skunk loach as a tankmate, but since then it's been canisters or air based filters.
