RickA
Hello All.. Just a beginner to planted aquariums. its 75 with fluval fx6 cannister filter. I am 2 weeks into the cycle process and would like to know if its ok to plant in the current phase of the cycle. Ammonia and Nitrite are present in tank and no nitrates. My goal is to start a planted community fish tank with Angels and good tank fish for them.. Any help is appreciated . Thanks
KBOzzie59
I plant the day I fill, or very shortly after.
RovingGinger
Plant away, I find that it helps the cycle.
Bill
I've done it both ways, but going forward I may stick to cycling without plants. They absorb ammonia and nitrite, which would be good if fish were in the tank, but if the goal is to build up beneficial bacteria (BB) in the filter media then I think it might be better to let them consume all the ammonia and nitrite. But I can't say for sure which way is better, or if there are better reasons for cycling with plants present... sounds like a good experiment to do!
