Taregreen
Hello folks, I was hoping someone out there can shed some light on this. I bought four guppies at my LFS on Saturday, took them home, and put them in my quarantine tank, so they've been soaking in the Aquarium Coop "med trio" for about 5 days now. Today I noticed one of them was acting a bit aloof and not really associating with the others. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that it had red spots/blotches on its side. It also looks like it's passing an internal parasite, so at least the med trio is working on that. But, what are the red spots (see pics). I didn't notice these spots when I bought them. I did read that ammonia or nitrite poisoning may cause these red spots, but my water parameters are fine. PH about 7.5 Ammonia 0 Nitrite 0 Nitrate 0 Temp 78 GH/KH about 3-4 Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Administrators Cory Posted September 25, 2020 Administrators Share Posted September 25, 2020 Hard to say, could be bacterial infection or internal hemorrhaging. For now, I'd let the meds do their work. Or possibly add some salt to the tank.
Taregreen
I did add some salt and a half dose of Melafix and Pimafix. Hopefully the little guy/gal will pull through. Thanks.
