    My aquarium has been set up for a week. I have Val. americana in the tank and a 2 year old seeded sponge filter. I will be getting Alternanthera reineckii and Bucephalandra Brownie Blue this week to add to the aquarium. Tested every day for the last week and get 0 Ammonia, 0 Nitrite, and 20 Nitrate. Diatoms growth is on the sand along with the wood piece. Is it ready for my Rabbit Snail to be moved in once I get my new plants?

    @Isaac M Okay thank you! I think I am going to look for some AR and hopefully Val. The val will cover the sponge filter well and won't mind the flow towards the output.

    @Cory That is good to know. It is just starting up and it is a Silica-based and so I was expecting it to start.

    Hello! I am going to be getting Easy Green but I am getting some plants this weekend and need a fertilizer ASAP. What is the best fertilizer I can get at a LFS or chain store?

    I set this aquarium up last Saturday (getting some plants on Saturday) and was wondering: Do these look like diatoms? I'm thinking yes since the top layer of my substrate is Pool Filter Sand and I know diatoms love silica.

    @Jeff I wouldn't be opposed to also having some chilis, but I have other creatures I want to add so i'm afraid it may be overcrowded.
