  1. I will test it, and I will also do that of testing my tap water with the liquid test kit, Thank you so much!
  2. I know, its a big difference, I don't have distilled water but I'm going to purchase some to test it. I will keep you posted. Thank you so much for your help 🙂
  3. Thank you, I gravel vac last week and yesterday and there was nothing dead. It is possible that something is wrong with my freshwater test kit because from what I see In the API test strip I got 0 ppm for Nitrate. I tested my water parameters using the API strips and this is what I got: -Ammonia: 0 ppm -Ph: I would say its between 8.0 or 8.5, its hard to tell -Alkalinity: 180 close to 300 ppm -Hardness: 150 ppm -Nitrite: 0 ppm -Nitrate: 0 ppm
  4. Last time I changed water before yesterday was last week on Tuesday and on this same day I tested my Nitrate and it was 10 ppm. I did a 50% water change last week
  5. This test was after the fertilizer. I did my water change this morning and added the fertilizer an hour later of the water change and I tested my water parameters about an hour ago. I added 3 pumps like it says in the bottles to add 1 pump per 10 gallons since I have a 30 gallon tank. I add fertilizers about twice a month
  6. Yeah I’m going to try test strips ,Thank you🙂 I used this test kit because I heard it was more accurate
  7. Oh wow, yeah I got it not so long ago maybe two months ago and I just checked and these bottles aren’t expired. I don’t understand what’s happening, it can be possible that something could be wrong with the Nitrate bottle than because I did two big water changes and its still elevated I don’t understand what’s wrong because I do water changes weekly and I did a 50% water change yesterday and today, I don’t know what to do
  8. Hello everyone, hope everyone has had a great week, I just finished testing my water parameters in my 30 gallon fish tank but my Nitrate levels are elevated and they haven't come down despite me doing a 50% water change yesterday and another 50% water change this morning. I also added some Aquarium co op Easy Fertilizer after todays water change for the plants. Are these Nitrate levels toxic? How can I bring it down? Will FritzZyme 7 help? I have a few hideouts, guppy grass as a floating plant and about 4 small anubias. What can I do to bring these levels down? What causes Nitrate to elevate? Water parameters (Used the Freshwater Liquid Test kit) : Ammonia: 0.25 ppm Nitrate: Either 40 or 80 ppm Nitrite: 0 ppm Ph: 7.4 Gh: 125.3 ppm (7 drops) Kh: 53.7 ppm ( 3 drops) Thank you in advance 🙂
  9. I tested this on Sunday and coming out of my tap, my Kh was 125.3 ppm ( 7 drops) and after doing the off-gassing test, it was 143.2 ppm ( 8 drops) but my Kh is always low in my tank. I did a 50% water change on Tuesday and the Kh was 53.7 ppm ( 3 drops). I tested this using the API Freshwater Test kit. I'm going to do more water changes to see if the Kh in my tank increases over time. Thank you 🙂
  10. Thank you! @modified lung Thank you, I currently do not have any driftwood or leaves in the tank and I do 50% weekly water changes which is why I don't know why my Ph is low in the tank but coming out of the tap its pretty high. I'm going to do more water changes to see if it keeps my Ph stable.
  11. Thank you @modified lung! What can I do to avoid pH from going down?
  12. The infection is starting so its hard to tell but it looks a little bit fuzzy. I’m going to try to get a better picture. Thank you 🙂
  13. Thank you very much! All you guys have been very helpful especially since this is all new to me 🙂 Yes, I do have two decors where it can be possible that they could have injure themselves and I haven’t seen them flashing but I will keep a close eye on them to be sure. What worries me is that I see something something fuzzy in those areas. Its hard to get a good picture of them because they are constantly moving around.
  14. Thank you so much! I’m going to do the water changes, I apologize for all the questions, is that I’m new to the hobby so this is all new to me and I just want to make sure I do things right for my fish so that they can live a healthy life. I don’t know if its my water parameters but currently I have 2 platys that it seems like it lost its scales or not sure if they got injured but I see something fuzzy growing in these scaleless areas. It looks like its starting. I don’t know if its a fungal infection or columnaris. I don’t understand why they have this because I do weekly water changes.
  15. The substrate I have now is the Caribsea Super Naturals Aquarium Sand Sunset gold. I previously had gravel and about 2 weeks ago I changed it to this sand. Are my water parameters good for my fish or what should I do to have better water parameters for them? Will the water change help?
  16. Thank you! I have platys, mollies, and a gourami in the tank. Currently I do not have any wood in my tank, I have these few decorations for fish to hideout but nothing that will alter the parameters. I have a sand substrate from Caribsea which is pH neutral and it said it won't increase water hardness and have a few small anubias plants and some floating guppy grass. I will do another 50% water change. 🙂
  17. Thank you, I was thinking of starting with either Amano or neocardina shrimp since I heard they are a good choice for beginners since they are more hardy. What can I do to improve my water parameters? What can I do to increases my Kh and Ph? I want to keep my water parameters stable.
  18. Thank you! 🙂 I will definitely start feeding my fish veggies
  19. Thank you @JettsPapa for the link, I just read it and its a very informative post for someone who wants to get into shrimp keeping, awesome job! 🙂
  20. Thank you @JettsPapa for this post, for someone who wants to get into shrimp, this was very informative! Great job!🙂
  21. I will read via the link you provided, Thank you so much! 🙂
  22. I’m very sorry for your loss, My fish died today 😔 from what it seemed like Dropsy but I’m not sure because he wasn’t pineconed. He was very bloated though and he barely swam.
  23. At the beginning I wanted to keep shrimp with my fish but I also heard that the shrimp can become fish food so I think its best that I start a tank with shrimp only. Thank you!
