Ramba Bamba
So I have a bunch of Tonina Belem on its way. I was hoping to put them in my 30 gallon shrimp tank, but all I’ve read about this species of plant is that it needs very high light and needs CO2 injection. I have a Fluval 3.0 so I think I’m ok on high light. Does anyone have experience with this plant and do I need CO2? If so, how would I go about CO2 in a shrimp tank because I’ve heard it’s very difficult?
Seattle_Aquarist
Hi @Ramba Bamba I have grown the species and it is very difficult to grow without CO2; without CO2 high light seems to just create an algae farm. The species also does best in softer water. Shrimp can certainly tolerate CO2 up to 30 ppm or more without issues. -Roy
