Jdogtrainer
My broad leaf Bolbitis leaves have roots and tiny baby plants growing on them. I've heard this is from stress - these are new plants that I've had about a month. So I guess I'm asking if this means the adult plants are going to die? How should I handle the baby plants? Irene
Interesting... I've never had bolbitis that created plantlets, so not sure if it is in distress. For java fern plantets, I usually try to leave them attached to the main adult leaf as long as possible since they seem to grow faster that way.
Jdogtrainer
Thank you @Irene! These are new plants that were shipped in to me a month or so ago. So I'm sure they were/are stressed.
Jdogtrainer
UPDATED My baby bolbitis are growing well, none have detached from the leaves yet. Also! The adult plants have finally started growing from the rhizome and they're taking off!
Koi
That is crazy, I have never experienced that. Do you know what kind of bolbitis it is specifically?

Yes this is the "trident" or "broad leaf" species AKA: BOLBITIS HETEROCLITA

jjmears
Ok, I have this same plant, supposedly. It came from Petco in a tube. But mine has totally died, and I read in another forum that the b. heteroclita wasn't meant to be grown submerged. This is my before/after a month. in the water. Mine had little plantlets on the leaves, too, with little roots, but they've all just withered and melted.
