South Florida
Hello. New here but have kept fish for about 30 years. Setting up a breeding rack with maybe 10 aquariums and would like it to drain into my sink drain. My rack will be behind a wall where this sink is and I am planning on drilling a hole through the wall to attach my water discharge to the sink. Any ideas where I would attach my aquarium drain to my sink drain? Should I attach before the ptrap or after? Attaching pictures of what the underneath of my sink looks like. Currently my sink has two ptraps and the diswasher drains into one of them. Should I just do the same with the aquarium as the dishwasher? Thank you. AllFishNoBrakes
Someone who is smarter than me and who has actually done it before will hopefully answer, but it makes sense to my brain to do it the same as the dishwasher. I would hate to do it after the trap and have any kind of leak.
Tlindsey
I personally would connect it above before the p-trap. If someone had to snake the drain and disconnect the p-trap the aquarium drain line wouldn't be in the way. @South Florida
Beach Cruiser
Yep. Same as dishwasher, to prevent gas reversion, etc.
South Florida
Thank you, appreciate the help. I just hope that once I put the rack up the lowest aquarium is higher than the p-trap. If not can I make the ptraps go lower or will that be a problem?

Airborne 82nd
Yes get another dishwasher fitting like the one you have and put it on the other sink at the same height. All you have to cut is the down pipe on the left sink simple and easy.
Beach Cruiser
Having the p-trap lower would not be impossible, but it would require some custom plumbing & there's no easy " kit" to do so, that i know of. (& I do a lot of home renovations)
TAB
I would run it just like a dishwasher. With a vent and drain above the p trap
South Florida
Thank you all, I'm going to run it above the ptrap and hope it all works out.
Tony s
Definitely above the p-trap. or, in worst case, you'll need to make another p-trap. It all depends on space. I've done it both ways. The reason you never want to be on the other side of the trap, if your drain line ever goes dry, that's sewer/septic gas right back into the house
