redmare
So I just moved the stock from my 29 gallon into their new 75 gallon, and now my angelfish Kevin had some odd red/pink showing up in his fins. This was definitely not present yesterday. Is it stress from the move? Did I maybe pinch his fins trying to catch him? Is it something much worse? I did some looking online and came up with a bunch of results about septicaemia, which I’m really hoping isn’t the case… the only notable difference in water parameters between the two tanks is nitrates, the new one is about 10ppm and the old one was more like 40ppm. All the other fish are doing just fine with no signs of stress.

Colu
I would say an injury the most likely cause I would monitor for a couple of days if you notice the Redding of the fin gets worse than I would consider doing a course of maracyn2@redmare Edited August 13 by Colu

I only have maracyn on hand, not 2- is this okay? I’m in Canada so I can’t get more easily without about her field trip across the border. I also shut the lights off to hopefully reduce his stress

redmare
Kevin was looking super stressed this morning, with his gills all flared out and breathing really fast. I put him into a 10 gallon QT to do a course of maracyn, hopefully he’ll be feeling better soon! Also hopefully if he’s sick, he’s the only one affected because I do not have enough meds to treat 75 gallons.
redmare
Kevin is looking better today. I did another dose of maracyn, I’ll give him the full 5 day routine per the package. His gills are still a little out, but his breathing is more normal. There still seems to be a bit of pink in his fins but it’s less, not more. His wife Wanda has been missing him, though… she went totally pale as soon as I got Kevin out and hasn’t coloured up again. She’s behaving normal, I guess she just doesn’t need to be dressed up fancy without Kevin around.
