Re-sealing

My 20 gal tank has a large crack in the black trim and is leaking around the seal. What can I fix this with?

20's are inexpensive, i myself would head to the store and by a new one.

I’d probably just get a new one to but if your really going to repair it you cut the old silicone with a razor making sure to not cut the silicone between the glass itself makes sure it’s completely clean of old silicone I used some acetone to completely clean it and scraped it then new silicone followed by a long leak test and that’s if the trim isn’t structural if it is your going to have to engineer a new system to hold it together

Thank you. I’m going to give it a try just to see if I can do it. If it fails, it’s no big deal, I can just put a small reptile in it. 😊

I would just buy a new one, however it does present you with practice, in case you ever have to do it again, you’ll have a bit of experience.
