Danio erythromicron-Emerald Dwarf Danio

Recommended Posts

These have been a someday fish for me for a long time.  I finally picked up a group of 12 at my LFS last week.  The tank they are in was a temporary hold for unpaired Laetacara curviceps.  It’s ugly and needs cleaned. Goal today or tomorrow is to get these plants DEC69FAC-CE72-4C77-A01A-67E994F30B16.jpeg.9de0e5a197b90d79aaf8b84137297f68.jpeg

into tanks.  Cold is kicking my butt though.

These are just babies. This is what they look like as adults.

They are close cousins of Danio margaritatus-CPD that I’ve bred for years. Once they grow up I should easily get lots of babies.  I do wonder why they are called emerald because their stripes are royal blue????

I have coveted these guys as well, look forward to seeing them in your care.

Hope you feel better soon

Thanks. I’ll let you know when I get plenty of babies. Maybe I can hook you up.

I forgot how young danios start going at it.  Added a bunch of pogo to the tank to fill it in yesterday.

Today I saw the boys sparring.  I put in a collection cup and they were checking it out the minute my hand left the tank.

They are great looking fish and I have them in with CPD's in a 20 gallon with lots of Crypts.

In total there are around 40 fish in the tank and if I'm really lucky I spot one or two a day!

Even tried adding endlers to the tank as dithers but they still hide 😞

I sit still then they come see me.  Trick is I sit so I’m below tank level. If I hover over them or am eye level they feel threatened

Also try putting a ball of moss in a front corner. They should come out each morning and spawn in it.
