cr0wley
Hi everyone, I'm basically looking for a good hob filter for my 20g that is currently cycling with a sponge filter. I was heavily considering one of the Marineland wide filters rated for 20g, but I think I'd like to overfilter slightly for safety's sake. Are there any other decent 20-40g hobs that are cheap, roomy, and customizable like the Marineland 20g?
Andy's Fish Den
I haven't used a HOB filter in years, but when I did, all I used was Aquaclear. I like that I can customize the filter material to what I want to use, I am not stuck using the cartridges.
Lennie
What is your stocking plan? I think that plays a good role deciding on the filteration as long as you are not willing to deal with playing around the potential current.

I like AquaClears too. That would be my vote. Seachem Tidals are another good option. Not sure which I like more. Maybe the Tidal, slightly? MattyM
I have an Aquaclear 55 on my 20g high, with one of these baffles and a pre-sponge filter - it's been great: https://www.etsy.com/listing/769221604/the-original-aquarium-filter-baffles-3d
