Narrow vs wide leaves

Hi all,

I have a question about the size of the leaves on plants. I have several elodea and Amazon sword that i purchased, that had wider leaves when i planted them, but all the new growth is much narrower. My guess is that I'm giving more light than the seller? Or less?

 

I'm running a fairly high tech tank with co2.

It’s probably due to the fact that they weren’t fully submerged when they were grown and weren’t finished “converting” to their aquatic form before you bought them. As long as the leaves are healthy there’s nothing to worry about

emersed vs submersed growth. totally normal.

ive noticed with my elodea that in lower light it had wider leaves closer together, but when i increased the lighting the new growth had longer narrower leaves farther apart.
