Xr4tiCrew
I am trying to figure out what type of algae this is and how to get rid of it. I have reduced my lighting to 9 hours a day from 11 and am doing weekly water changes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
CJs Aquatics
Interested in a professional answer to this because it looks like no algae I’ve ever encountered, almost more like a moss of some sort
mynameisnobody
Just curious, are you sure there was no singular strand of moss in there. It looks exactly like moss.

It looks exactly like moss. I originally had some Java moss glued to this fake log but now have some Christmas Mofford wedges into it. Whatever it is still grows in it but if feel like it’s not Java moss but I could be wrong. I also have some Christmas moss wedged in between some Java fern.
mynameisnobody
Honestly, I think it looks beautiful, but that may be the difference in seeing a photo vs live in person.

I do as well but thought it might be something I need to get a handle on. I’ll let it go and see what happens? 🤷
nabokovfan87
@Odd Duck should know the name of the moss. I think it's one in their tank! I do think that you also have some staghorn algae in between the moss there.
reefhugger
I looks like moss to me as well. I've had some newer tank algae issues so looked at a million pictures of algae.

It kind of looks like maybe a mix of species? Like some moss and some algae? I would leave it grow and see what happens, but I don’t mind a bit of algae and am very fond of unusual mosses. Second pic does look like it might have some hair algae mixed in like @nabokovfan87mentioned.
