kevincanada
i use the small internal filter to sweep the bottom clean after the detritus builds up to much. i got the idea from corey's china video where he showcased the tanks with the return on the bottom to keep it swept clean. it works well and doesnt suck up any babies. cheers
itsfoxtail
That's a great idea! How long does it typically take for it to suck up all the detritus? Do you just shuffle it around from tank to tank throughout the week?
kevincanada
It generally takes five to 10 minutes per tank depending on how dirty. I have two different filters in it which are cartridge so they're micron filtration and I clean them between uses because they plug up fast. I find it a very good and gentle way to clean the tank and the fish don't seem to mind as you can see from the pictures. Good luck cheers.

PineSong
I usually stick a HOB on my tanks when I am doing a big 'spring cleaning' and stir up the detritus with a chopstick so the HOB will suck it up. I don't like leaving HOBs on my tanks, though, due to fear of them overflowing and ruining my wood floors. This internal filter idea would eliminate that risk altogether....definitely something for me to consider.
