A Good Light for Blue Fish?

Hello.  I've recently been planning to move my pair of Electric Blue Acara to their own tank from the community tank they're in now.  I'm planning on it just being the two of them in a 40 breeder so I can experiment with breeding and to just enjoy them a little more.

Since the tank will be focused around them, I was thinking of getting a light that would specifically make their blue colors pop.  Any recommendations? Thanks!

In terms of complimentary, you'd literally just want a light you can control. I would suggest highlighting the blue, yellow, and green tones if possible.  If you have something like a fluval 3.0 this is how I do it....  Everything is a ratio based off the "pure white" value.

Highlight Cool Tones:
Pure White: 55%
Cool White: 45%
Warm White: 30%
Red: 30%
Blue: 10-15% (normally very low)

Highlight Warm Tones:
Pure White: 55%
Cool White: 30%
Warm White: 45%
Red: 45%
Blue: 1-5%

p.s. welcome to the forums!

I see, thank you for the detailed answer! I have a fluval 3.0 on the tank they’re in now so I’ll give it a shot. And thank you for the welcome 🙂

Fluval 3.0 is awesome!  I have mine shifting to reds and blues as a sunset, and my discus really show great during the transition. 7E7D54C1-CA70-4FB3-AC96-301D65E4CFE2.jpeg.1e144b32658721705c6d1c5656010410.jpeg

Thank you for the reply! I have a 3.0 on the tank the fish are in now but I haven’t played with settings too much. Looks like I have some tinkering to do!
