Lds760
I put Dragon Stone in my tank, and over time, it seems to be almost dissolving / crumbling away. Is this normal? Kinda disappointing…
lefty o
i think to some degree it is. to me dragon stone seems like a very hard clay, leaning towards a very soft sandstone, so i think it wears easily.
AllFishNoBrakes
I use a lot of dragon stone. I’ve noticed that I have to rinse and rinse and rinse and scrub and scrub and scruband then do some more before I even put it in my tank. There’s tons of holes, crevices, dirt, and mud on those bad boys. Once I’ve gotten down to just the stone that is left, I’ve never seen it continue to erode inside my tanks. Just my 2 cents. mynameisnobody
I sprayed my down with a hose before putting it in my aquariums. Tons of stuff breaks off, crumbles away, basically melts before your eyes. After this, I too, have never noticed any further deterioration. Must be a good feeling after paying per lb for the rock and shipping….
mynameisnobody
@Pepere I would never pay shipping on stone, it’s much too heavy.

I would imagine the cost of shipping them to your local store is embedded in the price the store sells them for.
