redfish
How do you know/tell if a snail is dead? Our nerite hasn’t moved from this position laying on it’s back in the tank since yesterday. I took it out today looking for any movement but don’t see any. Thoughts?
Guppysnail
Gently pull on the operculum. (Foot covering). If it does not retract he has passed. If he smells he has passed. If that is the case I’m so sorry. 1
lefty o
smell is the first instant clue. if you really cant tell, stick it in a separate bucket of water. every now and then it seems they just want to take a day or two vacation.
redfish
No smell yet. I'll give a light pull like Guppysnail recommends and keep it in a bowl for a day or two. I didn't want it left in the 5 gal betta tank if it's dead. The other nerite is doing fine. One never really was very active and just stayed at the top of the tank a lot. I suspect this is the one. Thanks!
redfish
Well, after the pull test, smelly fluid came out. She gone. Now we have a pretty nerite shell. Might see about some shrimp to help clean the tank with the one remaining nerite.
