JL316
What is the best way of storing brine shrimp eggs long term? Unfortunately I’m having poor hatch rate, I’m assuming I should have left the container in the fridge instead of in the fish tank stand drawer. Gwallace
Yep. Fridge for the win. Keep away from heat and/or humidity. 1
Atitagain
I keep my can in the freezer then a small container (enough for 3-4 batches) in the refrigerator. I figure I’m only letting in fresh oxygen 1/4 of the time into the can.
JL316
@Atitagainhow long do you thaw the frozen brine shrimp in the fridge?
Atitagain
@JL316 not sure I’ve ever needed to think about how long they take to thaw. I would say 24 hours-ish (maybe even no thaw needed?). I will always refill the fridge container before needed, so I’ve always had 2-3 days between uses back when I needed so much. These days I don’t have as many fry but the can has been in the freezer for over 6 months and I’m still getting 95%-⬆️ Hatch rate.
JL316
Gotcha. I’m gonna keep it in the fridge/freezer to have better hatch rate. Thanks for the info!
