a tired fish keeper
It is an Apistogramma agassizii double red and has shown varying levels of coloration and at times appears quite dark.
Fish Folk
Beautiful fish either way. The blue cheek jewel scaling is more commonly seen on males. The brightly colored tails and fins along with blue-gray sheen along the lateral line can develop later for males. Is this Apisto the only one in the aquarium? Are there other Apistos? Male? Female? TheSwissAquarist
Male , due to the nice colors and the iridescence on the gill flaps. If the males hiding he’s the dominant one, think about selling the other.
