MtView
This betta was in some very dirty water and the water was changed last week. I noticed a large white patch on the fins so treated with aquarium salt (level 2 treatment) at 2.5 TBSP for a 5 gallon tank. The patch seemed to keep expanding after a few days so I added 1/2 tsp ICK X with 1/2 packet of API EM Erythromycin. This is how Ricardo the betta looks today two days later. I'm not sure if I'm starting to see a recoloring of the fin and also not sure if I diagnosed the disease correctly. The large white patch seems to be getting some of the original red coloring back in the pic, but looks a bit whiter to the naked eye. Administrators Zenzo Posted July 6, 2022 Administrators Share Posted July 6, 2022 I would suggested sticking with the erythromycin treatment. Ich-X is probably not necessary, as it doesn't appear to have ich. I hope he fully recovers.
MtView
Thank you. Would you recommend then that I follow the dosing instructions from API and how long should I give it before trying something else? Is there any chance it's a parasite? Administrators Zenzo Posted July 7, 2022 Administrators Share Posted July 7, 2022 I would follow the dosing instructions. It is hard to determine what it is without a sample and a microscope, but it's probably unlikely.
