Sponge filters for non US people

Just setting up a sponge filter and I thought I'd share a little hot rod I use. (Can't wait for the coop to ship internationally)

Cheap Amazon 6 pack sponge filter

They generally have a down tube to push air to the bottom

That needs to go so a sharp blade later

Now you can friction fit your air stone 😁

I choose narrow air stones so they fit my small sponges and in this case I did have to shorten the plastic at the top then shave it down to fit but a 2 minute job.

End result is finer bubbles therefore better draw through the sponge and quieter pop, pop, popping at the surface

Tank moved and complete re-plant ready for my glowlight danios who'll appreciate moving out of the 5 gallon Qt tank

Awesome looking, simple scape.  I like the big chunky mopani mixed with the gass type plants up front!  I can't wait to see it filled in.

Thanks @nabokovfan87 I didn't realise there was a filter mod thread.

Quite pleased with the Scape as I'm more of a plant for water quality guy than a scraper

Me too.  I enjoy it.  I am trying to run just a dwarf hairgrass carpet in my tank and it's been 3-4 attempts at this point.  Make it look easy for me! lol
