anewbie
What is the easiest way to setup a terrarium suitable for crypts and how much light do they need (i.e, are room lights enough or do they need to be by a window or dedicated light source)? Also how rich or a soil and is drainage a problem or can the roots sit in water if the bottom of the terrarium is water tight ?
Tihshho
Growing Crypts emersed is a fun project that I need to get back into. Ideally, you'll want to setup something where the soil can get saturated but not water logged. This won't be bad for the plants, but boy does stagnant soaked soil have a smell... You can substitute aquasoil if you want and you will not have the smell issueDepending on your setup sunlight will be OK, if it's a true terrarium, going with lights would be ideal. Expect melt as submersed growth will wilt and emersed growth will sprout.

Tihshho
Hard to say on lights when it's going to be dependent on the terrarium size. As for soil, MGOPS works, I just made my own custom organic blend.
