Just got this i really want to ask if they are good i have any power outages and i think this is a wonderful option to run this better then the filters the tanks came with the power problems are more then i need

I had a smaller version in a 1.5 gallon snail pot, and the one thing to be aware of is the sponge is quite fine, so it clogs easily. @Cory made a good point with regards to coarser sponges needing less cleaning.

To get the best flow out of these filters you can do one of two things. If the output pipes don't extend to the surface (where they should be to get the best flow) you can remove the elbow. Otherwise if they extend, put the elbow output slightly above the water surface and you will get great flow in the tank and less gurgling with air getting caught in a 90 degree bend.
