Leo2o915
So in my 10 gallon QT have some 1inch bristlenose and 10 green neon tetras my question is I added two almond leaves and the water is brownish now so how low does the tannins lower the ph ? I know the green neons can handle lower ph but how low can bristlenose handle ?
Baphijmm
Take this with a grain of salt as I don't "officially" know the answer, but seeing as bristlenose are native to many Amazon tributaries and waterways, as well as those of the Rio de la Plata, all waters that have naturally-high tannins, I imagine they'd be more than fine in such water. I'm not sure how much they lower the pH, though I can't imagine it's by all that much? (I say as someone who's set up a blackwater tank, and not really noticed much of a pH change.) Guppysnail
My lemon BN do just fine with or without heavy tannins. Pleco are little tanks and do fine in most any parameters . Unless your ph is CRAZY low (like under 6 but a bit lower is probably fine as well) I would not worry at all.
