Ambassador
I've got some large bunches of pearl weed (more than a foot tall) that are really thriving and sending out roots all the way up and down the long stems. I've been trimming the tops off and planting the cuttings with success (going for a carpet.) Is it reasonable to just bend the whole bunch over so the new shoots can root directly without trimming or is this going to create a strange growth pattern that I will regret? I know I'll need to trim everything eventually but I'm wondering of this could be a shortcut. Edited April 8, 2022 by Ambassador
JettsPapa
I have a lot of pearl weed, but have never tried that. I suspect that when you bend it over it will send up new shoots from the each node, but I'm not sure. I may give it a try.
Patrick_G
That’s some tall Pearl weed! I bet you can cut 2-3 sections off the tops and replant each section.
Ken
I've done both. Bending it over and stuffing it into the substrate or setting a rock on it does just fine and is easier. Apparently it develops roots wherever it wants.
