Looking again at this young EBA pair approaching spawning time. Note the color change on this female… face turns dark, body and head wash out light… a striking contrast to the male, whose colors remain more consistent. I had to crop this video in. Sorry for the lack of clarity.

Confirmed breeding pair! EBAs sitting on wigglers. This is so helpful for selling them. People would much rather buy a confirmed pair than “unsexed” assortment. And I, for my part, refuse to guess / lie about a pair being confirmed. Either they are, or they aren’t.

It’s been a year and a half since I kept Electric Blue Acaras. I haven’t missed them much until this week. I acquired a small group of Congo Tetras from a friend. And it struck me: THESE are the schooling species that I could have kept with EBAs…

They’re big, hardy, temperature-variable, and wonderfully colorful.
