TonyT
It's a 55g community tank and is due for a water change this weekend - do I wait for a hatch or do the change as usual, maybe w/o any vacuuming? Total newbie at raising fry, so any advice helpful. Tankmates - Rummy Nose, Cardinals, Julii.
anewbie
Depends on water condition - they need moderately soft water for them to hatch - also depends on your experience raising frys - to be honest rams can be very difficult to raise frys (getting them to lay eggs are easy); in a community aquarium there is almost no chance for the fry esp with tetra like cardinals and rummy - so if you want to hatch them you are best off removing them - in your case a large pail or something large enough to hold that drift wood would help; you would need some mb to help prevent fungus as well as aeration. If your tds is above about 110 dont' bother.
