Oranda head discoloration

Hi, my oranda has been having what seems to be an infection of some sort on her head. I was told to treat with melafix and after a week it seems to have gotten worse. Should I treat again with melafix after a water change? Should I go another route? Please help!! This has been going on for about a month

It could be a bacterial infection of the wen or over production of the slime coat  what are your water parameters is he eating ok is it just melafix you treated him with

Hi! Water parameters are looking good and he is eating just fine. I started with just aquarium salt but then decided to treat him with melafix this past week. Doesn’t seem to have gotten any better so I’m not sure to continue with that medication.

Melafix isn't a very effective medication for treating bacterial infection I would treat antibiotic medication like maracyn or kanaplex

Thank you! I have some on hand. I medicated with melafix today. What % water change should I make before adding the maracyn?

I would do a 30% water and run active carbon for 24hr before adding maracyn
