  1. I have an Oranda and I just noticed a red spot on her. It is very prominent and I am worried. Any comments will help!! Tested the water and every thing came back normal. I attached some pictures. Thank you so much!
  2. Hi! Thank you for the reply. He has been acting very normal. I also used 1 tablespoon of salt for every 5 gallons of tank water. And the discoloration does not look fungusy like you said. Here are some pictures from when ur began a little over a month ago!
  3. Hello, you all may recognize me. For the past month+ I’ve been posting about my oranda who has had what seems to be an infection on his wen. I first tried aquarium salt, then melafix for a week, and I just finished trying maracyn for a week and have seen little to no improvement. His water parameters are all perfect so I am confused as to what to do next. I woild appreciate any feedback!!
  4. Thank you! I have some on hand. I medicated with melafix today. What % water change should I make before adding the maracyn?
  5. Hi! Water parameters are looking good and he is eating just fine. I started with just aquarium salt but then decided to treat him with melafix this past week. Doesn’t seem to have gotten any better so I’m not sure to continue with that medication.
  6. Hi, my oranda has been having what seems to be an infection of some sort on her head. I was told to treat with melafix and after a week it seems to have gotten worse. Should I treat again with melafix after a water change? Should I go another route? Please help!! This has been going on for about a month
  7. My oranda is one year old and she’s starting to get these white spots on her head. Any ideas what it can be? Water parameters are all okay. Thank you!

    Parasites?

@Colu hi. I haven’t added anything new to the tank. She is an 8 month oranda in a 29 gallon tank alone. The temp is 72 degrees. Ammonia, nitrite & nitrate are 0. Ph is 8. I feed her hikari sinking pellets as well has peas and blood worms (peas and blood worms about 2 times a week). I feed her @ 6am and 6pm.

    Parasites?

Hi everyone. My oranda has been acting funny lately. She’ll spend some time sitting at the bottom for anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour a couple times a day and then get up and act like nothing is wrong. She also some times gasps for air at the top. All the water levels are perfect and when she isn’t doing those 2 things you would think she is perfectly fine. I have also noticed white/clear poop on occasions. I know stringy white poop is associated with parasites but It isn’t stingy. It looks like a normal poop just white. I’m not sure if I should treat with paracleanse or what. I would appreciate any feedback!! Thank you so much.
  11. @GardenStateGoldfish I feed sinking pellets and use seachem prime. I will add prime right now. Thank you!
  12. To add, when she is not at the top of the tank she is very active.
  13. Hello everyone. I have an Oranda goldfish that is about 8 months old. She is in a 29 gallon tank with an aquaclear 30 and a sponge filter with an air stone. Recently she has been going to the top and just staying there for the really long time “gasping for air.” The sponge filter with the air stone seem to provide a lot of oxygen so I’m not sure what the issue is. I also see no visible signs of disease. The temp is at 73 degrees and all the water parameters are good. I would appreciate any feedback. Thank you!!
