Python Water Changing System

With the Python Water Changing System. If there are fish in the tank. 

How do you introduce the water treatment to the tank?

I add the "water treatment" to the tank for the total volume of the tank.  I pour it in right where my python is in the tank prior to turning on the water.  Once the treatment is in the tank I make sure my water is the proper temperature and turn it on.  My thought is that the water flow from the python will help mix it into the tank.  I also keep my sponge filter running to help circulate the water as well.

That's what I thought. But it seems like that would be a high dosage until water added dilutes it?

I add it right before the water goes in.  I have seen others do the same thats why I do it that way.

@jerseychef I do it the same way. On another post in the forum another person suggested putting an aqua clear 70/110 intake tube at the end of the python hook.  I tried that and it works really well to divert the stream of water when refilling.

So on the topic of pythons, which i am new to always used buckets. How do you all clean your filter sponges when doing a w.c.? I still have to break out the syphon and bucket at the moment just to clean the filters every week when i python the tanks...thanks for your time!
