Ben Mills Posted May 26, 2021 Posted May 26, 2021 So when I do water changes I am planning on adding my doses of easy iron, easy green, and easy carbon at the same time. Is that safe?
lefty o Posted May 26, 2021 Posted May 26, 2021 sure is. only caveat, if you use carbon, give it a couple days then add them.
Ben Mills Posted May 26, 2021 Author Posted May 26, 2021 Thanks. When you say them what do you mean? Add the carbon first then wait a few days to add fertilizer?
lefty o Posted May 26, 2021 Posted May 26, 2021 when i say them, i mean all 3 you are using. i probably should have been more clear, when i said carbon, i meant carbon in your filter, not the anti algae carbon out of the bottle lol. if you use carbon in your filtration, then you would wait a few days, so that the carbon would not absorb all the goodies you added for your plants. 1
Ben Mills Posted May 26, 2021 Author Posted May 26, 2021 Thanks. So I’m just going to add all 3 tonight since I don’t use any carbon. That works? 1
Isaac M Posted May 26, 2021 Posted May 26, 2021 That is great advice given by @lefty o about the activated carbon in filters. For planted aquariums, I prefer not to use activated carbon as it will remove nutrients from the water plants utilize. Purigen is a great alternative for activated carbon in planted aquariums. Something to mention as well is that they all have different recommendations. Some may need to be dosed more often (easy carbon for example) than others so they will not always end up being dosed the same day. But I do not see a reason why they could not be dosed together.
