Rudles
I set up my 29 I'm a hurry and forgot to add Flourite Red to my substrate. Would it still be beneficial to put it in on top of my gravel and mix it in lightly?
Beardedbillygoat1975
If you don’t have livestock in there I don’t see an issue. Flourite has no inherit value by itself but due to its high CEC it’s great at holding nutrients from your ferts, fish poop and root tabs. So long term it’s helpful. But you will get some mess from stirring up the substrate- I use a powerhead and sponge to help clear the water after. Good luck and have fun - it looks like it’s going to be a heck of a tank!
Rudles
Awesome! Thank you. That's what I was thinking. I have sand below the gravel capping the soil so I should be able to mix it a bit without disturbing the soil.
JakeH
You might be able to “vacuum” that top layer with a siphon. It will require some touch, but if you don’t mind the frustration you might be able to salvage your original plan.
