Ariel S
I was cleaning my tank today, picked up one of my dragon stones and noticed it was black on the bottom.it’s not slimy. I had to scrub to get it off anyone know what that is? Harmful? Photo is attached. thank you in advance! Edited May 12, 2021 by Ariel S
Isaac M
Hello @Ariel S, I am no expert in this part of the hobby but I believe that is from anaerobic bacteria. That happens commonly in deep sand beds and other areas like the bottom of this rock where no oxygen is present. It is typically not harmful at all. Ariel S
I do have sand, but like a very very small layer. Maybe an inch at the most. I guess it’s because I’ve had the tank set up for about a year but never lifted that rock? did I mess anything up removing it?
