Hi Everyone, I have been using Green Leaf fertilizers and EI in my planted tank for a while (N,P,K and Micros) As I use RO water for TPA, I usually adjust the KH with Seachem Alkaline Buffer and I mix 1/2 gallon of my Tap Water to adjust the GH (I am from Florida - ver hard water here). I just saw I have a bag of Magnesium Sulfate (MgSO4) that I never used !!! It came together with my EI kit. Is the Magnesium to be used instead of the Tap Water that I use to raise my GH ? Or it will raise the GH and KH? thank you very much

Hi Everyone, 40 gal planted tank, with injected CO2 and etc. pH from 6,8 going down to 5.5 in the middle of the day. About 7 neons, 8 lemon tetras and about 8 Harlequin AND 2 Angels of about 2.5 inches. Weeks ago I tried to put 5 small Red Cherry Shrimps and I am 99% sure my angels did eat them. Is this normal ? Do you think the problem is I bought too small shrimps or these Angels will eat them anyways? Maybe bigger Cherry or Amanos? thank you Marcelo

Hi All, Wife wants a puffer. I have been reading about them but as there are many species I am a little bit confuse about if I can have one or many and which one I could have. This is my setup: 40 gal planted tank with injected CO2 (pic attached), 2 angels, 8 Rasbora Harlequins, 8 neons, 10 Tetra Lemons, 3 k. loaches. pH 5.5 to 6.8. No shrimps, no snails .. maybe 1 or 2 Nerites that I haven’t seen since weeks 😆 Is it possible to have 1 or more puffers with these fish and tank ? thank you very much !!!!!!!! Marcelo

With innovation I meant new products that you never saw before. Examples of innovation: led lights that can be scheduled and have their intensities and etc adjusted according to the time of the day. Those led panel you can put behind your aquarium. In-line CO2 diffuser maybe? Not sure when this was “put on sales” for the first time . Stainless steel skimmers are a design innovation. Those attached skimmers that go inline with the inflow canister line …

Hi Everyone, I was playing around eBay and Amazon and looking for the Latest Innovation / Product / Accessory .. things that I never saw and etc. The only thing that I am seeing a lot are those beautiful hanging lights ! I saw a beautiful metallic skimmer and that is it. I tried to search for 2023 Aquarium Trends and nothing as well. This makes me think if there is no space for innovations in our hobby …. Thoughts ?? Is there something you saw lately that I am missing ?

Hi Everyone, Home Assistant can now “Hear” and Execute Commands like an Alexa or Google. Next weekend project is: If I say: “Assistant, fish food time”, Home Assistant will turn off my Skimmer, wait 5 minutes and turn on it again. “ 💪🤞 Marcelo

If one wants to use Home Assistant only, this valve is compatible with Google, Alexa, Home Assistant and etc etc. there is an article in a home Assistant forum where people mention about it …. Home Assistant has a Sensor called “Sunrise” that shows the time the Sun will rise “today” in your area. It changes (obviously) according to the month and etc (summer, winter, etc). What about if you say that your light should turn on 3 hours after the Sunrise and turn off 12 hours after the Sunrise? This is what I do here with my Tank but also some of my external home lights.

Hi Phoenixfishroom, I am not good with programming 😞 too but the thing is I have a high-tech planted tank and I am afraid of mess around with light. When you say programming what do you mean ? What you could do inside Home assistant is to setup the light with the configuration you want, save it as “Sunrise 1”, change the light setup to, let’s say, late morning with less Red or less blue, for example, save again with “Late morning”, change the setup again and save with “noon” and etc. After, that you can activate each one of this setups with automation on specific times. Is this what you are looking to do ?

Hi Guys, I just noticed one of my tetras lemons has this hole in his body. I have him for about 1 year so he is probably 1.3 years old ?!?!? He is together with other 7 tetra lemons. I never saw the fighting or anything else. do you believe this is some disease ? I do have a Chinese Algae Eater … I heard they become aggressive when they get bigger …. Thanks for your opinion.

I do dry fertilization and EI method so I need to do a 50% water change per week. I have a cheap and simple RO filter and some 5 gal buckets that I fill during the week so I can fill the tank on the weekend

Hi, I started to build the main screen. For now it only shows Turn On and Off buttons, if it is on (blue) or off (black) and the last 2 days ONs and OFFs as way for me to see if co2, lights and O2 are kind of “balanced”. Today I should: - work on the automation to turn on and off them at specific times - setup Phone Text Message alerts if some smart switch goes offline.

Ok ! I waited my wife to take a nap, went to Best Buy and bought 3 smart switches 😏 CO2 Light Aeretor

Hi @TheSwissAquarist not with HA itself, I had some issues with smart switches going offline so I had to create an automation that sends me a SMS / Text message if HA can’t communicate with them. is this the kind of glitch you are talking about ?

Hi Everyone, I have being using Home Assistant to manage routines at my house (automations, check if the garage door is closed, warn me when the printer cartridge is low, send me a Text Message if something is wrong with my AC, etc etc) since 3 years. This year I am going to add my tank to the system. Phase 1 goal is to automate CO2, Lights, Aerator turn on and off and show some basic information I’m the dashboard. Hi, Only making sure … are you putting one drop, closing the tube, shaking, opening, putting another drop, closing, shaking … etc ? Just asking because one could think you dont need to close,shake, open again ,,,
