  1. If all the fish are dead how would you proceed to make the aquarium safe? So many kind words here. Thank you
  2. I will look more carefully for sure. It’s really a help to just tell the epic fail. I was careful of so many things and then so casual about the temperature.
  3. It’s so stressful. Awful. I will get some aquarium salt.
  4. I turned it down to 68 but it was mid 70s during the day but then we had really cold weather and I was afraid it was too cold so I was not gradual. The harlequins died first so I think you are right. I am sure that stressed them. I wasn’t thinking. But I’m glad to learn they can get ich from stress. I thought it took a sick fish.
  5. I didn’t see my fish were sick until one died. Then I saw a few white spots on all of the fish- 10 harlequin rasboras that I had for 6 months and 11 neon green rasboras I had for 5 months. 20 gallon tank with lots of plants. It’s been stable until I turned down the heater and then changed my mind two weeks later and just cranked it back up. That’s the only change to this. So I treated for ich and 5 fish died. I started to treat with the trio of meds and next day fish are covered with white spots and 4 more dead fish. Day 3 fish look better with much fewer white and then by the end of the day only 2 fish alive. Day 4 all fish have died. The mystery snail and nerite snail are fine. Also have been with aquarium for months. I have 4 tanks and this one has been flawless and now I feel horrible and want to not make the same mistakes and also remedy the tank to use again.
  6. No not the base or the root, if that’s what you mean. The base and the roots are what you are buying. The leaves melt off and then get new leaves.
  7. My Mystery snail just ate my dreaded Nerite snail eggs like a boss. They showed up this morning on a Crypt leaf that I intended to cut off, but were dispatched by my Mystery snail, the amazing Lucy Blu!
  8. I started in the’80’s after moving across the street from the lfs after a divorce. After a couple of years I gave it away… too much going on to pay attention to it. Fast forward to November when a 20 gallon showed up on my porch as a birthday gift from my son! And now I am addicted! My wife is picking up my new aquarium from Petsmart as we speak.
  9. Yes. I have a 20 gallon long with 13 harlequins and 1 rummy nose that snuck in. Just like yours mine schooled at first but no more. I wonder if I should just add some rummy nose. I love it when they all zoom together! this is such good advice. My Harlequins are small. I was thinking of moving them to a 10 gallon tank but now I’m going to let them grow with the plants. also I am not sure I’m using the forum correctly but I want to add everyone has been really helpful. Thank you

  11. I thought you could do more bc of the low bio load.
  12. I want to do a 20 gallon tank with all the same fish. How many Harlequin rasboras can I have? What fish would school the most, if that’s even a question?
  13. Thank you for posting. I don’t even have a quarantine tank. And am getting one immediately. I have been really lucky. I started in the’80’s for 5 years and was lucky then and it wasn’t recommended by my lfs. Now decades later I am starting again.
  14. I love angels too. I’m just getting back to fish with a gift 20 gallon. I have Harlequin rasboras but I’m afraid an angel would out grow my tank and I likely won’t get more tanks at this point in my life.
