  1. He uses the regular ones not the Colombian if I remember. The ones I posted are the ones that get to like 3” or more. They’re 2 different types. I have the regulars that get to 1” max but I was in a LFS in a new city and saw them and had never seen them that big so posted it here. One of the ones on the front glass was bigger then a 50 cent piece if you’re in the US.
  2. Gotcha. Yeah I’m good. Literally defeats the whole purpose of then to be small and get into little cracks.
  3. I thought ramshorns only got about an inch max. The ones in the back are over 2 inches wide.
  4. @Guppysnail sorry about that. @SunBearQ @nabokovfan87 I’ve looked at their stock and the price isn’t bad. Like I was saying, if the price means better quality in both genetics and health I’ll be happy to pay a bit more. The Aquahuna one didn’t look so great with the with reviews. A few of them were about doa or just not healthy all around but that may have just been a bad batch. I check the others out now.
  5. I’m currently looking for 40 chili rasboras and came across . I was considering Do you guys have any suggestions or opinions on these sites? Both are overnight. I’m really wanting to know how likely I am to get a bag of DOA. If ones more notorious then the other then the price is worth it.
  6. I have a red and I really like it. I’ve been meaning to get more.
  7. I’m actually getting an additional 8 cardinals, 4-6 harlequins, and 40 chili rasboras this week that’ll be in that tank.
  8. This is a 2 part question. I just got 8 cardinal tetras and 8 harlequin rasboras to replenish the schools I have. The harlequins are from Petco and look good but the cardinals are from a LFS that look good but many fish I’ve gotten from them have had issues. They’re currently in a new 10 gallon cycled quarantine tank with a sponge filter from the main tank they’ll be in. In addition to them I put an injured cardinal I already had into here to get some meds in it. It has what looks like an absess on the base of its tail and has issues staying righted and swimming. I dosed the tank with Maracyn, paraclense, and Ich-x. The question. Is should I do a full treatment as the source of the fish are known to be unhealthy or just 1 dose trio treatment? Also should I feed the injured fish with kanaplex now or later? I won’t be here during the week to monitor them but someone can come and add meds and do water changes as needed but wouldn’t know what to look for so that’s why I’m wondering if I should just do a full treatment of paraclense and maracyn then Ichx next week. This is a clean freshly put up tank with a cycled sponge filter from the main tank. It’s also planted with a couple Java ferns, a chain sword, and a wendtti. temp - 79° ph - 6.6-7 ammonia -0 nitrite - 0 nitrate - 5-10 kh - 1-2 gh - 9-12 Sorry for the bad pic. They’re cardinals and are spooked so this was from 10 feet away zoomed in to get them to sit still long enough.
  9. That’s not the foliage I’m looking for but definitely the colors. I need to get a couple of these. I’m running out of tanks.
  10. So in a search for some detritus worms I ended up breaking down the filter of an old tank that I rarely change because it’s more a plant nursery and only has a couple fish in it. I ended up finding some in there and got hers a bunch to transplant in the other tank filters. Fingers crossed they do good. On another note I got a nice bit and just tossed them in the guppy tank. Not a one touched the substrate. Absolute blood bath. The cories ended up breading the next morning so that cool too.
  11. @anewbie I have a baby flame and it’s rust red and green. I’m going to let that grow a little more and see what I get. @JoeQ yeah that’s the closest I’ve seen so far.
  12. @anewbie I’m looking for something that’s green and purple like those plants. Preferably something that has mixed colors instead of one leaf green and the other purple. I’ve got pink flamingos and scarlet temples for pink so I don’t need anymore unless the plant has that too. All the swords I’ve seen are pretty much the same other then the ozelot and that one has what looks like spots and stripes of color I’m looking for something that looks like that first pic in color and patterns.
  13. Melon sword is probably the closest I see. I have some pink flamingos. They either are dull to bright pink or they’re pink with green veins. I wish I could get them to go purple and pink.
  14. I saw this plant down in Southern Virginia on a job site and would love to have something like it in my tanks. The only thing I can think of with the broad leaves and colors ranging purples and reds to bright green is an Amazon flame sword. Anyone have anything else they could suggest?
  15. Thank you. I just ordered 30 from my LFS. They’re putting an order in for 40 and I’ll take what ever extra they get in that survives.
  16. Sweet!!! Thank you so much. I’m gonna be down this rabbit hole all night 😂
  17. The duck weed is strong with this one 🤣 love the rock work.
  18. I did an experiment with another person on here a year to 2 ago where we took pests from tanks and used different chemicals to see what worked and what didn’t. That’s where I saw actual proof that everything I can get dies to peroxide. Plenaria, several other worms, rams, bladder, pond snails, mts, and the eggs of everything on here. We also tested and timed how long it took. alcohol and bleach kills all but damages the plants peroxide kills all and after 20 minutes then a fresh water cleaning was good to go Lemon juice wrecks everything except eggs of rams horns take longer the peroxide so I’d rather use peroxide though it smells better. Have you intentionally collected pests as well as possible plant deseases then tested and times how long it took as well as the results? With in reason. I would happily be rid of all my snails. I don’t mind them if they’d stay at a small population but it’s either I starve my fish or have to watch the tank with hawk eyes anytime I feed it to get rid of left overs. My tanks have a lot of bottom dwellers and are heavily planted so I have to toss things in the bushes to feed them all. Also the eggs in everything are the reason I don’t have nerites anymore.
  19. Yeah I might of over done it with the no plenaria stuff but they’re gone and my fish and plants survived so I count that as a win. I’ve used Alum but the few times I did I lost some plants so I just went to hosing them with peroxide in a spray bottle. I’ve yet to see anything in quarantine after doing that. I’ll try the RR/Seltzer @Chick-In-Of-TheSea suggested next time I get a batch of plants. I’ll be honest… I’m kinda a plant hoarder so it’ll be in a day or 2 at most. 🤷🏽‍♂️
  20. I will definitely check it out. I’m so paranoid about plenaria that I probably do go over board with soaks and quarantines. I completely understand why @nabokovfan87 isn’t a fan of the w word.
  21. @jwcarlson I get what you’re saying but from having them before to now, they would come out of the filter when ever it was started back up after a cleaning and when ever I vacuumed I’d stir up some and they’d be in the water column as well. I used to be able to see them under the sand on the edge of the glass or under the tank. I haven’t seen anything. Even if I do have them I would rather add more to increase the population and maybe get some of my fish into a breading frenzy. Would love some baby Pygmy corries and chili Rasboras. Maybe even some of those fabled baby kuhli loaches.
  22. @jwcarlson I’ve looked and I don’t see any. I clean my filters regularly and see nothing. My substrate is all hth sand and I vacune every other week. I’ve pulled out the wood in there and looked and nothings there. I treated my tanks with no plenaria when I had a bad infestation and even 3 months after that I still couldn’t put a nerrite or assassin snail in without it dying in 24 hours or less. Now I hose all new plants with peroxide for 30-45 minutes then quarantine them for several weeks. There’s nothing in there except rams horn snails that survived and won’t die off.
  23. I moved him last night so he’s still adjusting. I also just realized I forgot to turn the HOB flow down. It’s a seachem tidal 55 on full blast in a 40 gallon so he wasn’t too happy. Thank you. It’s 6” longer, 6” wider, and 2” shorter so it’s an improvement. I just turned the filter flow down and he actually came out of hiding so that was on me.
  24. @Chick-In-Of-TheSea right now my betta Fire is sulking because I took him out of his 29 gallon tall tank and put him in a 40 gallon breaded. Turds being ungrateful for the upgrade. Plus more fish for him to interact with. Reminds me of a moody teenager that got moved and misses his old friends from school.
