  1. Mine would be 10G if I had to choose. They're easy to dose almost everything from easy green, dechlorinator, to meds doses 10G a pump. You can do nano fish(which I love) in them and have enough plants so you get the best of both worlds in a size that is practical and easy enough to maintain for almost anyone.

I want to be able to use a nano air pump if I don't have access to electricity. ACO's page for the pump says "great in a power outage situation with a battery pack back up," and links to this:

     https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077HFFLMS/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=tank01-20&camp=1789&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B077HFFLMS&linkId=e6ef7700bbfd0200a8e362175d5c3f9d

On Amazon's product page, I see no indication that this can be used as a battery. Rather, it looks like it charges devices that have batteries in them - which the nano pump does not.

There are 2 pictures of the Amazon product with a pump-style plug in it. In both pictures, the product is plugged in to an electricity source...

So can this be used as a battery - NOT just as a battery charger?

The nano air pump itself does not have a battery if you have a portable battery that has a USB slot you can use it to power a nano air pump for a day to a couple days depending on the size. Even though the nano pump does not have an internal battery it will work with portable batteries to run instead of charge. Hope this helps.

  3. I was able to get down 18 I don't know how someone ate 37 for the current world record that's insane. It was down to the last second on my timer when I swallowed the last bit of my 18th taco so it was close. My camera app decided to crash 3 minutes In so I edited my ring camera videos in to show the first couple I ate. This video will be featuring my husky Harley I swear she didn't help me even though she really wanted to! Good luck everyone.

Thank you, that gives me peace of mind for when I finally get my tank set up lol. If I didn’t have to go through figuring out tap to RO ratios every water change I definitely didn’t want to 😂

As for the betta murdering shrimp, I know it’s really gonna be a 50/50 chance I can actually do that. I’m hoping the heavy plant cover plus the larger tank size, plus keeping it well fed with good food will save them. But if my test shrimp get killed then I’ll probably go with snails instead and have a separate 5 gallon just for shrimp.

I was gonna say the heavy plant cover will help I tried this years ago before doing planted tanks so the shrimp had nowhere to hid so I'm sure that wasn't great for them. Also ask your LFS what their parameters are and see what they suggest if you have one.

It's up really close to the light  on decor and the filter.  I also think I was running my light too high. I turned it down like a week and a half ago. Other algae has curbed back a bit so I think I am getting closer to the balance point.

Will bba ever be gone though? Or will it just be in remission effectively.

Hopefully turning down the light will help it will probably take some patience to get rid of I've heard it's hard to get rid of. I've not had it so I can't say for sure hopefully someone that is more experienced will respond.

  6. My pH is around 8.0 and GH is 200-300 ppm usually I've kept both cherry shrimp and a Betta with no issues from the water. I do have to say when I tried the two together the shrimp didn't make it. Could I of had a shrimp murdering Betta and you could have success in your tank most likely I would say.

  7. I've been in the hobby for around 6 years at this point. More recently gotten into the community planted tanks when I found aquarium co-op. I now have a 75G that currently has a ton of red wag platys in it. Then there is my 29G that has more red wag platys, dalmatian mollies, and aenues cory's. My first 10G has ember tetras, two honey gouramis, and a otocinclus. My second 10G which is my quarantine tank currently has some von rio tetras which I am absolutely in love over and two otocinclus. All the plants I currently have are as follows- a ton of water wisteria, a range of anubias, two types of java fern, vallisneria, two types of swords, Lily bulb, crypts and scarlet temple that I am completely failing at! I hope to continue the hobby and support the forum, I have gotten completely crazy about this hobby since finding all you helpful people and watching a wide range of the co-ops employees videos. I almost didn't post because I've been trying to balance the tanks and get rid of the staghorn algae but I'm getting very close! Thank you to all that read and look at my post.

I think both these species can pretty easily be found for sale online. It does mean paying for shipping, and being careful to order when the weather will be good on the whole route, but it might be worth considering.

I want to badly but I work second shift and I leave 2 hours before packages usually show up at my place trying to get a friend to recieve it for me but then its difficult to explain to a non fish person what to do with the fish.

I was going to suggest that also. It seems really important to have enough plants to outcompete the algae. My tanks seem to go in cycles where I’ll be pretty much algae free then a trimming or some plant removal triggers some algae growth then after a while it goes away. The Otocinclus and Amano Shrimp help a lot too!
I once tried removing Java fern and Anubias and painting on straight Excel. Not a good idea! 😐

Oh wow I was gonna try doing that this weekend maybe I'll just try hydrogen peroxide. And yeah I've been waiting to pull the trigger on more plants I put more wisteria in both of those tanks from my 10g to try and help. And yes my otocinclus does a nice job in my 10g on the algae it's hard to find them or amano shrimp where I am and when you do they're expensive and the otocinclus are likely to have sunken bellies.

If you’re already using excel I’d try doing a large water change and then the larger dose as indicated in the instructions. After that you might also turn down the light intensity decrease the amount of time your light is on.

I put the light timer on 8 hours and turned intensity down the 75g is already pretty low light since it just has jungle val anubias and java Fern I ordered more plants to hopefully help balance the tank

If you're on a well, then yes absolutely it can. What are the parameters of the water coming from your tap?

I'm not on a well my current perimeters are pH 7.8 KH 120ppm GH 150ppm 0 nitrite 40 nitrate 0 ammonia. Tap water comes out at 8.0 pH 300-300+ GH at my kitchen sink which I use to fill these two tanks. All my other water sources in the house are on the water softener.
