Dean just talked about this in this video that was posted today. Hope this helps. If I had that many I would get one now. https://youtu.be/X7NIl5JyqFk

I recommend plant weights for rooted plants that go into the gravel. It you need to attach a plant to decorations then glue.

Slow and steady is good. Remember you have your whole life to keep fish. We don't need to try all the things in 1 year, instead think about having a life long hobby 😉
Good advice for sure!!! 🙂

@Lynze what is that tray with the cherry shrimp in it?
-
Ordered some cherry shrimp to add to my community tank. Then made another order on aquarium co-op to stock up on supplies. Slowly building up supplies to setup a second tank. Starting to get addicted to the hobby but want to Slowly build so I don't burnout.

Cory,
Thank you for always making things better.

My first guess would be potassium. Once I started dosing extra potassium they perked up. My Java ferns had black spots that would eventually rot and fall out, I did trim some as well then new growth happened.

Sorry to hear that about your shrimp. Not for sure what the brown spots are for sure. But I can tell you the tank parameters are probably the cause of the deaths. The recommended tank parameters should be:
- pH: 6.8 - 7.5
- KH: 0 - 10 dKH

Wow, very curious. Could this be one if those imposter situations? Like, it's not a true Amano?
Maybe but did get them from aqua huna so I definitely trust the source. All my female adult shrimp have had eggs and have them again. This is the only baby I have seen in the tank thus far.

Ph: 7.8 ppm
Kh: 120 ppm
Gh: 200 ppm 12dkh Municipal water is hard.
Nitrate: 20ppm
Nitrite: 0
I never tested the calcium or copper levels. Shrimp and fish are doing excellent.
I have seen the zoes floating in the water..well what I thing are zoes sometimes after a water change. They are very small and are wiggling. Usually see the tetras eating them. Just never thought I would see one survive because of the brackish water they need.
I also do water changes once a week but switching to every other because my nitrates are staying at or under 20PPM. Plants are doing a good job now that they are established.

Welcome to the forum, Garren! The tank looks great! It took me a minute to realize they were the same tank.
Yes, done alot of things over the months as I got into planting the tank and trying to go more natural environment. I only leave the anchor decoration because my wife likes it and it has a cave for the pleco.
Appreciate the comment

I have slowly upped my light intensity as my plants are growing good now. This is the setting I have been using for about 2 months now. The only thing I have changed over time is the percentage of intensity. Always keep 10 hours to keep it consistent in time on. Works great. I have a 38 gallon bow front deep.
