Very interesting, yes some fish will eat guppy grass but I’ve never known fish to eat every single bite of a plant…. Very strange.

My favorite Pokémon are ones that you probably never have heard of, or are less known.
1. Clawitzer
2. Porygon
3. Gyarados
4. Wingull/Pelipper
5. Steelix
I actually know all of those, all really cool Pokémon! But yes not super common, probably the most common one is Gyarados.

Same with mine. I think as long as you have algae in the tank, your snail won’t be interested in the wafers. But when you run out of algae he might be a little hungrier and figure it out.
I tried to give mine a mini algae wafer but 1) he never was interested in it and turned right around in the opposite direction and 2) my betta snatched it up and ate the entire thing (it was split in half). Sigh.Yeah my white clouds are usually always asleep by the time I try to feed, so I don’t have that problem, but yes he just puts in reverse and says nope, not right now lol. And here is the table where my 10g will be today, I am putting the 10 here, and putting my 20 on the table my 10 is currently on.

that is kinda boring. it doesn't look 20 gallons...
But anyway.... What cleanup crew are you gonna have? The Cories will sift through the sand ik but what about the glass and deco cleaners?
I was thinking a snail crew. I have one, in my 10, but will add him most likely, and get possibly one more.

Guppies are really good, as long as you choose the right ones to start with, but I don't know. I have never kept Rasboras before.
@Whitecloud09, you could transfer your Nerite snail to your larger tank if needed, once you are able to find a way to do that without stressing your fish or snail out. He would probably appreciate the extra space and food.
Yes. I have one issue, he doesn’t eat the algae (mini) wafers. Should I leave it in tank all night? They sink. But when does show up he is almost always on the glass. Would he smell it?? Idk anything about snails 🤷♂️

Putting it near the natural sunlight can help, I stand by the window, and get a bright desk light, then put it as close as my light, then compare.

The API test is not going to get you there precisely, but I do find with doing a dilution test I get as close as I really need to.
Same, when my nitrate was 5 my plants was struggling, but when the nitrates were 20, my Pearl weed and micro sword started thriving, but my pearlweed doesn’t care if it’s 0 or 60, it still is thriving!

As I have mentioned, let us know how it turns out!!!!

Should be, with most you can cut to your own desired shape, to fit your filter. I shoved a media bag much thicker then that gap with crushed coral. It will work, just check the width of the one you want.

Sounds great , thanks again. Would throwing away my current cartridge then ruin my cycle / beneficial bacteria / would it set me back?
No, you would put it (if room) behind the cartridge for around a week or 2, then ditch the old one. No bacteria lost.
On 5/30/2024 at 7:02 PM, Yoshi said:If there's room what I would do it put a sponge in next to the cartridge and let it run for several week. During that time the BB should seed into the sponge. Than you can ditch the cartridge.
You bear me to it, and took the words out of my mouth 😂

Thanks! What do u mean more sponge? As in completely ditch the cartridge from now on? Where would I get one of these extra sponges?
Idk if he means sponge as in cartridge, this is a sponge cartridge.
Something like this
Or sponge filter.

I’m guessing 1 though @Mordecai13.

Sorry! Neon Tetra Disease!
And I'll for sure send pictures of the blackwater. I'll have to stock up on catappa leaves. XDOh ok that is more simple than I thought lol.

My problem is that 5 ppm is not what I need for plant health. 20 is fine. But I can’t tell if it’s 5 or 20
Pictures would help, @svachon9, I have the same problem with the API test kit.

Good to know; the only symptoms we've ever seen is snout chondroma and at one point we definitely had a fish swimming down rapidly and not being able to swim straight at all (always tilted around in circles). But none have ever shown the "classic" signs of NTD so we just couldn't figure out what it was two years ago. But I know for a fact a fish died and was probably consumed in this tank, so for sure the cardinal tetras were exposed. Fonsi must have just nipped the neon with chondromas and gotten the chondroma that way. But I'll keep y'all updated on him and keep taking pictures. I'm really hoping he can beat it, at least on the outside.
Sorry but I am not good with stuff like NTD. I know idk imo and other things, but what does NTD stand for? I am not very wordy 😉.

I am very glad I had just ordered a batch of catappa leaves because that whole thing just went into the tank. We're going to have a darkwater scape now!
Wow, I love the way that looks, send pictures if possible @aminowrimo!
I am so curious on how this will turn out with your betta, u learn something new every day in fishkeeping!!

Ok! So I will add a bunch of catappa to the tank and monitor the betta. I'll make a decision about the neons and taking apart the tank over the course of the next week. Thanks so much for your help and for saving me a lot of time dosing medication!
Yes that was very helpful, thanks colu for helping here as I was clueless! Meds is not always the answer that is for sure.

The easiest and hardiest of fish are the white cloud mountain minnows. There is also a long fin if you want to get fancy. They won’t reproduce in record numbers, yet are astonishing to watch. The standard variety are very inexpensive. I’d toss some mystery snails at the bottom and call it a day.
YESSSS! They are amazing, I love these things, so much personality, and to be fancy you can get gold ones or long fin
